What Happens to your Brain in a Car Accident
These abrupt movements of your brain inside of your skull can damage some of the cellular connections in your brain leading you to have concussion symptoms.
Treatment for Concussions and Head Injuries
Neurofeedback Treatments for Concussion Recovery
Neurofeedback uses high-tech computer equipment to measure how your brain is functioning, and then helps to shift the state of your brain to encourage its healing. While it is often helpful for concussion recovery, a brain with a concussion is hypersensitive so the treatment must proceed slowly.
It is quite common in Neurofeedback treatment for concussions, that the concussive symptoms temporarily get worse before a slight improvement happens. It is like mildly stimulating an injured tissue to help promote blood flow and healing to that area. Although it depends on your history and severity of concussions, in general after 10 neurofeedback treatment sessions we should see some noticeable improvement in your concussion symptoms.
If you also are experiencing significant anxiety, stress, or sleep dysruption, we will usually start the Neurofeedback treatments by seeing if we can first reduce these symptoms. The more you are relaxed, regulated, and sleeping well, the better your brain and body can heal from the concussion and accident.
